    The Museumplein is located literally on the doorstep of Hotel Aalders. This square was named following the opening of the Rijksmuseum in 1885. The famous square also sports amongst others the Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum and the Concert hall.

     

    Nowadays many people think of the Museumplein as a meeting place and a place to relax. The lawns provide picnic opportunities and are often used for sports and games. In addition the square is also frequented by many tourists, who use this location to rest from their cultural outings and as assembly area for their coach.

     

    The Museumplein is known nationally for its major events. In the past demonstrations were often organised on the square. Nowadays it is mainly the Queen’s birthday and events surrounding football and music that come to mind.

     

    The Queen’s birthday is an annually recurring event, organised by Radio 538. Appearances from famous Dutch and some foreign artists attract a lot of visitors to the square. Events such as EC and WC football and the tribute to football club Ajax are always very popular.

     

    The Museumplein is within walking distance from the hotel and is also easily accessible with public transport. The tram lines 2, 3, 5, 12, 16, 24 and the bus lines 142, 144, 145, 170, 172, 197 and 370 have stops on the square.
